6/6/2020 1 Comment The beginning.Treebeard wanted to share some pictures of the property as it was before the Entwives returned. A lot of projects planned from flower beds by the driveway, turning the field into a vegetable and fruit garden, creating a food forest on the wooded hillside, and a walking path through the woods with art installations. Stay tuned to see progress!

6/6/2020 0 Comments history of the site.Fangorn Forest Garden is located in Fogelsville, PA. The colonial house, built in the early 1800s, was home to the Mohr family. For decades, the family farmed 500 acres of orchard in the Fogelsville area. Mohr Orchards sold apples, peaches, apricots, and plums across the Lehigh Valley, earning statewide fame for their slogan, "Eat Mohr fruit." The original boundaries of the orchard are marked in yellow below. By the 1970s, most of the orchard had been sold off and became housing developments. In 1977, Rewellian (Rudy) Mohr donated 40 acres to the Pennsylvania State University for the development of their Fogelsville Campus. The Lehigh Valley campus of Penn State moved to it's new Center Valley location in 2009, and the property was sold to a charter school in 2017. The Circle of Seasons Charter School is the only public Waldorf School on the east coast. Rewellian Mohr was heavily involved in agriculture in Lehigh County. He served as President of Mohr Orchards, Inc, and later as Vice President of Trexler Orchards, Inc. after a merger. Mohr was named a Pennsylvania Master Farmer in 1970 and served a term on the Pennsylvania Apple Advisory Council. In 1973, he and his wife donated 50 acres of land to the planned Applewood community in Fogelsville. Rudy took his own life in 1984 after a soured real estate deal, but his legacy in the Lehigh Valley remains. Fangorn Forest Garden is a small piece of land attached to the Mohr family's original area home. In between the black walnuts on the forested hillside are still a handful of the Mohr Orchard apple trees.
